About Kathy Melson
Licensed in Alabama and Florida, Kathy Melson brings her unique blend of experience, expertise, enthusiasm, specialized marketing and unyielding code of ethics to her real estate clients. Originally from Moss Point, MS, Kathy went to college in Lafayette, LA, and worked in Mobile and Daphne AL in the oil business. During the oil boom, Kathy relocated to Tulsa, OK, and after the bust knew that she wanted to bring her two young girls home to Gulf Shores and the beautiful Gulf Coast. Upon her return she was blessed to be the Director of Development for the United Way of Baldwin County. She loved her job and the non-profit organizations that she raised funds for.
Kathy has been an Event Planner for 25 years. First coordinating the many events for South Baldwin United Way: The Car Show in Foley, The Fairhope Wine & Art and the Symphony By The Sea in Orange Beach and helping coordinate the Inaugural Thunder on the Gulf Powerboat Race, just to name a few. In 2010 Kathy was hired as the Director of Sales and Marketing by the Hotel Magnolia in Foley. Her job was to rebrand the Hotel and the soon to open Magnolia Court Restaurant into the state’s newest Bed & Breakfast. During her tenure there, she enjoyed guiding tours of this magnificent hotel, as well as coordinating the beautiful weddings for many blushing brides.
When the Hotel was unexpectedly closed, Kathy went to work full-time with the Gulf Coast Powerboat Association coordinating the annual Thunder on the Gulf Powerboat Races. After the 2010 BP Oil Spill, she wrote over a half million dollars in grants to BP to keep the races and tourist coming to our beaches for this exciting event.
In the fall of 2014 she met Bill Lagman at a social event. After striking up a conversation, he had two questions: “How do you know EVERYONE that I know”, and “Why aren’t you in Real Estate!” Kathy received her real estate license and they immediately became partners in both Real Estate and Development.
Having worked all over Baldwin County, and lived in Lillian, AL for 25 years, Kathy is very knowledgeable of what each location has to offer. She and her granddaughter, Bailey, recently came full circle and relocated in Gulf Shores where she is actively involved with Gulf Shores Elementary School and attends Worship on the Water at the Flora-Bama each Sunday.
Headquartered at San Carlos in Gulf Shores and Villagio Town Centre in Perdido Key, Kathy takes great pride in finding the PERFECT property for her clients. So, if you are looking for a down-home Southern lady that loves to make her clients happy, don’t hesitate to call!
